A site inspired by the Iver McKay reunion; Bladen County, North Carolina.
According to one of our late family historians, Mayo Bundy, the following McKays immigrated to the southeastern region of North Carolina: Alexander = New Hanover in 1747, Iver = New Hanover in 1751, Archibald = Bladen County in 1752.
Curiously, there is a record of an Iver McKay who traveled to Cape Fear, North Carolina in 1770 on the brigantine Edinburgh. It is not known if this is the same Iver McKay who came to New Hanover County in 1751 and perhaps returned briefly to Scotland. "Iver" is an unusual name and we have no record of any other Iver McKay. Please write to the Webmaster if you have any thoughts about this! Enjoy your browse through the site!
Welcome to the NCMcKay homepage. Please take this time to find out about our clan's mission, news, upcoming events, and genealogy. Thanks again for visiting our homepage, and please contact us with any comments, suggestions, or criticisms. The picture is in our files as: "DSC00077.JPG".
