out the help of Bladen County's excellent Clerk of Court,
Wanda Suggs Campbell, I could not have offered so much
information between these two covers. I am most thankful
to Mercer Reeves Hubbard for the gift of her Aunt Lillian
Reeves Wyatt's book, entitled, "Reeves, Mercer Newkirk",
whose family line approaches, crosses and parallels mine
several times. I am appreciative of the work done on the
Bynum Family by Flora Ann Bynum, who took time out from
her many activities in the restoration of Moravian Gardens
and research into the lives and records of early German
botanists of Old Salem. Some of the other many contributors
will follow, but here I wish to express my sincere appre-
ciation for the enormous amount of notes exchanged over the
past years by that indefatigable researcher, Cousin Lib
(Elizabeth) Weiler. I look forward to the publication of
her family history, which has been long overdue.

HTML Editor's notes:

I cannot find a Mrs. Cecil M. Elliser in the book.  There is no
Elliser or Ellisor in the index.  However, there are some
children surnamed Ellisor on Page 77b. Other children on the same
page are closely related to Lionel, so I suspect I'll find
Mrs. Elliser or Ellisor some day!

There are two Fred Melvins listed in the book. Either one of them
might be the one Lionel mentions in the Acknowledgements.
FRED JOHNSON MELVIN (born 1922) has the middle initial "J." but
apparently made his home in Georgia or Alabama. The other one,
Fred Melvin (1880-1955) no middle initial mentioned, seems to
have lived most of his life in White Oak, NC, and so would have
been more accessible to Lionel as well as being of an era that
might have known valuable family history.

The HTML editor has no way of knowing which one, if either, is
the correct one.

I cannot find a James Marion Greene in the book.  There is no
such name in the index.

I cannot find a William E. Greene in the book.  There is no
such name in the index.

None of the John Tatums I have found in the book thus far seem to
be the correct one.

This page is acceptable for now. (Mon Apr 30 00:25:10 EDT 2007)
