son, George Wesley Hobbs, born 8 May 1890, Pocosin, Columbus
     County, N.C., died 14 June 1968 and buried in Panama
     City, Florida. Married 8 Sept. 1910 Mary Porter.
son, Emory Marvin Hobbs, born 5 May 1892 in Higgston, Mont-
     gomery County, Ga. Married 21 Nov. 1920 Alleverne Gay.
son, Carl Clayton Hobbs, born 30 March 1894 in Lothair,
     Montgomery County, Ga., died 31 Oct. 1939 and buried
     in Panama City, Fla. Married 5 April 1910 Daisy Pledger.
dau. Annie Lee Hobbs, born 29 Jan. 1896. Married 16 April
     1918 Guy S.D. Jencks.
dau. O. Virginia Hobbs, born 7 March 1895 in Ailey, Mont-
     gomery County, Ga. Married 16 March 1918 Otis H. Brig-
     man.
dau. Carrie Lucille Hobbs, born 10 May 1900 in Ashburn, Tur-
     ner County, Ga. Married 22 March 1925 Daniel E. Maxwell.
son, John D. Hobbs, born 24 July 1902 in Oakfield, Worth Co.,
     Georgia, died 8 Oct. 195(2) and buried in Panama City,
     Florida. Married 31 May 1942 Irene Cassidy.
son, Russell C. Hobbs, born 6 Sept. 1907 in Andrews, Florida.
     Married Emma Lozano.

Son of DANIEL MELVIN, II, (1769-1846) and Sarah West. Born
1799 in Turnbull Township, Bladen County, N.C. Died in Cum-
berland County, N.C. Married, first, Annie Jane Jessup, dau.
of Isaac Jessup and Elizabeth Ann Jessup, by whom two sons
were born. Married, second, Charlotte Averitt, daughter of
Henry Averitte* of Cumberland County, N.C. ARTHUR was one
of the administrators of his father's estate and soon after
receiving his share he must have sold it and moved to Cum-
berland County where he lived for most of his life. Child-
ren of ARTHUR MELVIN and Annie Jane Jessup:
 
son, WILLIAM H. MELVIN, born 1823, married Mary S_________.
son, Isaac C. Melvin (apparently he married Margaret Beard
     of White Oak, N.C., 7 March 1853.

son, ROBERT DANIEL MELVIN, married Molcy Fisher, daughter of
     Raiford Fisher of Cumberland County, N.C.

son, Joshua Melvin, married Ann Culbreth (see "Meet Our
     Ancestors" by Dr. V. Mayo Bundy for Culbreth Ancestry)
son, DAVID JOHNSON MELVIN, born 22 Sept. 1843, died 17 Oct.
     1915.
son, John A. Melvin, married Emmaline Smith of Cumberland
     County, N.C., 26 March 1859.
son, MARSHALL HAYSE MELVIN, born 5 Oct. 1845, died 3 Nov.
     1913 in Greensboro, N.C. Married 12 Nov. 1868 Sabra
