HTML Editor's notes:

The line now reading:
"County, N.C., and Jimmie Octavia Page (1872-1920) of Harrells"

Originally read:
"County, N.C., and Jimmie Octavia Page (1872-1920) of Harrell"

The small community of Harrell's Store was later renamed simply
Harrells. The town of Harrells is actually in Sampson County
near the borders of Duplin and Pender Counties. However, there
are Harrells mailing addresses in Bladen County to this day.

The line now reading:
"Daughter of DANIEL JAMES MELVIN, (1864-1943) of Titus-"

Originally read:
"Daughter of DANIEL JAMES MELVIN, Sr., (1864-1943) of Titus-"

The HTML Editor removed the "Sr." because this particular
DANIEL JAMES MELVIN (1864-1943) is actually the youngest of the
Daniel James Melvins in this book.  Furthermore, none of his sons
were named after him!

Notice that there are three Daniel James Melvins in this book!
DANIEL JAMES MELVIN (1795-    ), Page 21, head-of-family.
DANIEL JAMES MELVIN (1815-1903), Page 33, head-of-family.
DANIEL JAMES MELVIN (1864-1943), Page 34, head-of-family.

There is additional information about the third
DANIEL JAMES MELVIN (1864-1943), the one pertinent to this
page, at the bottom of page 142.  It seems to be a copy of some
sort of Family Record, perhaps reproduced by the "Blueprint"
process.

There seems to be no separate page for the WHATLEY LINEAGE.

Variant word list:
Word searches conducted by computer may produce disappointing
results.  Therefore, for each page, there will be a list like
this of names with middle names omitted, maiden names and married
names used, hyphenated words reconstructed, etc.  Perhaps this
strategy will help those people who are conducting searches on
the Internet find who they are looking for on this page.
It has already proven helpful to the HTML Editor.
