Son of JOHN MELVIN (1762-1853) and Mary Turner. Born in
Bladen County, N.C., c1795, died in Bladen County 18 Feb.
1848. Married 17 Feb. 1820 Sarah Locke Salter, born 25 Sept.
1803, died 19 Sept. 1884, the daughter of JAMES SALTER and
Mary Locke. In the notes of Lena McKay Melvin, DAVID TURNER
MELVIN married, first, a Melvin. This would have to be a dau.
of his Uncle GEORGE MELVIN and Mary Russ, who moved to S.C.
sometime after 1810. All of the daughters of his only other
Uncle, DANIEL MELVIN, have been accounted for in this Melvin

     McFadyen.
dau. Sarah Melvin, born 30 Aug. 1833, died 1 Jan. 1881. Mar-
     ried M. William Butler.
son, Joshua Melvin, born 20 May 1835, died 24 Nov. 1859.
dau. Eliza M. Melvin, born 6 October 1839, died 26 March 1912.

North Carolina. Born in Bladen c1789, died in Bladen after
1870. Married Sarah Cashwell of Bladen or one of the adjoining
counties. He is classified as a farmer in the U.S. Census.
