Julia Elizabeth Belch, born in Robeson County, N.C. This, oldest of the two daughters of ELIZABETH B. DAVIS MELVIN, has done extensive research on the Melvin family and its kin. A born genealogist who combines her know- ledge of history with genealogy, she has contributed a tremendous amount of information to this family history. It is hoped that one day all of her work will be pub- lished. "Lib", as she is called, was married to Milton C. F. Weiler, a nationally known painter of wildlife. Shortly before his recent death, the wildlife magazine, Field and Stream, honored him with several full pages devoted to his classic works on decoys, old and new. Parker (1820-1875) of Sampson County, N.C. Married Marshall Beard, an aristocratic and well re- spected citizen of Cumberland County, N.C. Children of Eliz- abeth Jane Melvin and Marshall Beard: dau. Viola Beard, married a Horne and lived on Beaver Dam in Cumberland County, N.C. dau. Angie Beard, married M.B. Hall. dau. Buleauh Beard, died single. dau. Lessie Beard, married a Faircloth. son, Ernest Beard, married, first, an Odum, second, Mary M. Watson. dau. Nannie Beard, married, first, Allen Branch, second, Sam Singletary. son, Dillard Beard, married Sally Smith. son, Pearl Beard, married a Pope. son, Marshall Beard, married Florence Young. EMMA MELVIN (1884-1964) Robert W. (5), James H. (4), Robert (3), Daniel (2), Daniel (1). Daughter of ROBERT W. MELVIN (1840-1909) of Bladen County, N.C., and Louisa Jane Melvin, daughter of Sabra, who was a daughter of Sheriff JAMES MELVIN. Born 23 July 1884 in Turn- bull Township, Bladen County, died in Turnbull 7 April 1964. Married 28 Jan. 1909 Larry B. Fisher, born 27 Sept. 1888 in Beaver Dam, Cumberland County, N.C., died 1971 in Bladen Co. Children of EMMA MELVIN and Larry B. Fisher: son, Dunaway Fisher, born 22 Dec. 1910 in Bladen County.
