Son of CHARLES THOMAS MELVIN (1852-1930) and Alice Dunham,
dau. of John and Susan (Cain) Dunham, born in Bladen County,
12 Oct. 1862, died 10 Nov. 1942. GEORGE FLETCHER MELVIN born
at White Oak, Bladen County, N.C., 31 Aug. 1894. Married 4
April 1920 at White Oak Susan Lorena Dunham, born at White
Oak 18 Sept. 1896, the daughter of George Alexander Dunham
and Elizabeth Baker Young of White Oak. "Cubbie", as George
Fletcher was called, and "Sudie" as his wife was known were
to their guests hospitable in the true southern tradition.
Those who visited them were made to feel genuinely welcome.
