June 1854 in Greenville, Butler County, Ala.; died 3 March
1924 at Oak Grove, Atmore Co., Alabama and buried in the Oak
Grove Cemetery. Married, first, Nancy Ann Morris, born 25
Dec. 1859, the daughter of Jesse Morris of Finchburg, Monroe
County, Alabama. G.W. Melvin, Jr. was by trade a farmer and
carpenter in Mineola. His second wife was Hester Alice Har-
rington of Monroe County, Alabama, born 23 Feb 1881, died
23 Feb. 1970, the daughter of Monroe Harrington and Amanda
Holder. Hester Alice was buried 24 Feb. 1970 in Oak Grove
Cemetery, Atmore, Ala. Children of GEORGE WASHINGTON MELVIN,
JR. and Nancy Ann Morris:
