MELVIN of Bladen County, N.C. Born in Turnbull Township of
Bladen 28 Dec. 1878, died in Roseboro, Sampson County, N.C.,
21 May 1946 and buried at Sharon Baptist Church in Cumber-
land County, N.C. Married 26 Sept. 1906 Hettie Clyde Melvin,
born 27 May 1887, died 9 April 1973 in Roseboro, N.C., the
daughter of WALTER FITZRANDOLPH MELVIN and Flora Ann Cain,
dau. of John Cain. Children of JAMES GILBERT MELVIN and

17 Jan. 1858, daughter of Patrick Kelly, who married Ann
Thomas, dau. of George Thomas and Margaret-Smith-Thomas-
Sutton nee Russ, daughter of THOMAS RUSS and wife, Mary,
who made her widow's will in Bladen County, N.C., 25 Aug.

born in Bladen County, N.C., 14 May 1826 and died there 11
Aug. 1902 after rearing two families of children by his two
wives. He married, first, 13 May 1853 Rebecca Jane McDonald,
born 7 Dec. 1833 in Cumberland County, N.C., died 28 Sept.
1867, the dau. of Wm. G. McDonald and Tharmer? Children of
