Vernon Gary ‘‘Pete’’ Odom, 60, of 6350 Rockford Drive, Fayette- ville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Ulanda T. Cole

Miss Ulanda T. Cole, 26, of 239 Meeting St., Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in East Russell Street Church of God by Bishop Stanford Aekins. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.

Miss Cole is survived by a daughter, Sequoia Cole of Fayetteville; a son, Fredrick Freshley of Fayetteville; her mother, Doris Campbell of the home; six sisters, Yvonne White of Melborne, Fla., and Glenda Campbell, Diane Hawkins, Teresa Campbell, Andrea Frazier and Torria Jenkins, all of Fayetteville; and two brothers, James Wilkerson of Chicago and Michael Campbell of Browns Mill, N.J.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

Maybelle M. Robinson

RICHMOND, Va. -- Mrs. Maybelle M. Robinson, 81, of 1611 Fourth Ave., formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Mount Hebrew Baptist Church in Parkton, N.C. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by a sister, Dora M. McDougald of Fayetteville; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

George Williamson

LUMBERTON -- George Williamson, 65, of Beverly Healthcare, died Saturday .

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo by Drs. Ray Lundy and Doyle Holder. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Funeral Services & Crematory.

Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife, Joyce Williamson of Fairmont; a son, Timothy G. Williamson of Fairmont; a daughter, Renee W. Taylor of Lumberton; three brothers, Nathan Q. Williamson of Raleigh, Richard A. Williamson of Cerro Gordo and Robert E. Williamson of Alexandria, Va.; and a grandchild.

DUNN -- James ‘‘Pokey’’ McAllister, 51, of 100 E. Pope St., died Friday in Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital.

Frank Dewar

DUNN -- Frank Dewar, 75, of 801 E. Edgerton St., died Friday in his home.

Mr. Dewar was a Navy veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn by the Rev. Mae Brower. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mr. Dewar is survived by two daughters, Pauline Covington of Fuquay-Varina and Georgianna Gettie of Wilson; his stepmother, Maggie S. Dewar of Olivia; a brother, James J. Dewar of Angier; three sisters, Melissa D. Thorpe and Annie M. Dewar, both of Angier, and Myrtle D. Cutts of Fayetteville; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Inez H. Dantzler

FAISON -- Mrs. Inez Benson Hawkins Dantzler, 89, of 214 S. Church St., died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

Mrs. Dantzler is survived by a son, Hubert A. Dantzler of Calypso; two daughters, Virginia H. Goodman of Mount Olive and Jean H. Autry of Autryville; two brothers, Bobby Benson of Roseboro and Tommie Benson of Salemburg; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Addie M. Harrington

WAGRAM -- Mrs. Addie Mae Harrington, 74, of 20601 Archie McLean Road, died Thursday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters Facility in Raeford by Dr. Louise K. Thomas. Burial will be in the Love family cemetery.

Mrs. Harrington is survived by four stepchildren, Lee and Larry, both of Clinton, Md., Milton of Raleigh and Brenda of Wagram; and two sisters, Lanies Kershaw of Raeford and Margaret Harrington of High Point.

Louis R. Barefoot

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Louis R. Barefoot, 70, of Augusta, formerly of Dunn, N.C., died Friday in his home.

A graveside service with Masonic rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery by the Rev. Kaye Simpson.

Mr. Barefoot is survived by a daughter, Saundra Walker of Augusta; and two brothers, Boyd Barefoot of Dunn and Stanley O. Barefoot of Raleigh, N.C.

The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Skinner Funeral Home in Dunn.

GARLAND -- Mrs. Clara Bryant Knowles, 89, of 12070 Old Mintz Highway, died Saturday in Southwood Nursing Center in Clinton.

Mrs. Knowles is survived by a daughter, Myrle K. Carr of Wilmington; two sons, Charles R. Knowles Sr. of Clinton and Tommy Knowles of Garland; a sister, Evelyn F. Jones of Garland; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel L. Conley

PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Hazel Lee Conley, 61, of 300 Ottimus Road, died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Locklear & Son Funeral Home chapel in Pembroke by the Revs. W.H. Preskitt, Gregory Cummings and Norman Morris. Burial will be in Oxendine Cemetery.

Mrs. Conley is survived by her husband, Henry E. Conley of the home; three sons, Hearl E. Conley of St. Pauls, James E. Conley of the home and Johnny M. Conley of Pembroke; five brothers, Robert M. Cummings, Lee Cummings and Clyde Cummings, all of St. Pauls, Cardean Cummings and Bobby D. Cummings, both of Pembroke; three sisters, Myrtle M. Hardin of St. Pauls, Bonnie Bell of Red Springs and Marcella Chappell of Pembroke; and 11 grandchildren.

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Leon Herman Melvin, 84, of Sunbridge Nursing Home, died Friday in Bladen County Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ammon Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Butler. Burial will be in the Melvin family cemetery.

Mr. Melvin is survived by two sisters, Esma M. Fisher of Cedar Creek and Elizabeth M. ‘‘Beth’’ Miller of Richmond, Va.

CLARKTON -- W. Clayton Cribb, 79, of Clarkton, died Friday in his home.

Mr. Cribb is survived by his wife, Lorena R. Bruton of Calabash and Willa D. Ellison of New Bern; four brothers, Phillip Cribb of Fort Mills, S.C., Charles Cribb of Whiteville, Bobby Cribb of Summerville, S.C., and Billy Cribb of Tabor City; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

MAXTON -- Henry Ford Burney Jr., 43, of 3819 O’Quinn Road, died Wednesday in his home.

Mr. Burney was a mechanic for Southeast Farm Equipment Co.

MAXTON -- Ms. Brenda Scott Cox, 51, of 3819 O’Quinn Road, died Wednesday in her home.

Ms. Cox was a homemaker.

MAXTON -- Miss Kaitlin Cheyenne Jacobs, 5, of 3819 O’Quinn Road, died Wednesday in her home.

CLINTON -- Mrs. Edith J. Bradshaw, 65, of 506 Green St., died Saturday in her home.

Arthur D. Faulk

SANFORD -- Arthur Dail Faulk, 78, of 1801 Wicker St., died Saturday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Mr. Faulk worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Miller-Boles Funeral Home chapel in Sanford by the Rev. Bob Brown. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Faulk is survived by his wife, Harriet K. Faulk of Sanford; two sons, Randy Faulk and Tim Faulk, both of Vass; a daughter, Diane F. Glover of Vass; a brother, Homer Faulk of Mooresville; a sister, Norma J. Riley of Carthage; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Ernestine ‘‘Hattie Mae’’ Blue, 71, of 157 Deaton Road, died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters Facility by Dr. Louise K. Thomas and the Rev. J.W. Gorham. Burial will be in the Love family cemetery.

Mrs. Blue is survived by four sons, James A. Southerland of New York and Kenneth Southerland, Levern Southerland and Tony Blue, all of Raeford; a daughter, Willie M. Southerland of Raeford; four stepsons, Clinton Blue and George Blue, both of New York, John Blue Jr. and Hulane Blue, both of Raeford; a stepdaughter, Nellie A. Shaw of Raeford; seven brothers, Claude Southerland of New York and Frank Southerland, Louis Southerland, Harrison Southerland, Ardell Southerland, Neill Southerland and J.D. McNeill, all of Raeford; three sisters, Elvenia Southerland, Yvonne Bethea and Lula Adams, all of Raeford; 17 grandchildren; 19 stepgrandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

Jack J. Parks Jr.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Jack J. Parks Jr., 67, of Colonial Arms Circle, died Dec. 19 in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Mr. Parks retired from the military after 23 years. He was a Vietnam veteran. Mr. Parks was also vice president of Minuteman Fuel and was a former pilot for Piedmont Aviation.

A graveside service with military honors will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Cremation Society of Virginia.

Mr. Parks is survived by two sons, Jeffrey L. Parks and Kevin E. Parks, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary L. Parmer of Chapel Hill, N.C.; three brothers, William L. Parks of Chapel Hill and Edward D. Parks and Gregory T. Parks, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Jacqueline F. Kirk

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Ms. Jacqueline F. Kirk, 72, of Charleston, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Friday in Heartland of Charleston.

Ms. Kirk retired from Kroger Co. in Fayetteville.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Keller Funeral Home of Dunbar.

Ms. Kirk is survived by a son, Richard Kirk of Florida; two daughters, Linda Davis of Charleston and Beth Fernandez of Atlanta; a sister, Patty Reyes of Colorado; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Eva Butler Evans, 81, of Whiteville, died Saturday in Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Curtis Victor Dykes Jr., 64, of Fayetteville, died Friday.

Mr. Dykes was a civil service finance clerk before retiring.
