LEON HERMAN MELVIN

    ELIZABETHTOWN -- Mr. Leon
Herman Melvin, 84, of Turnbull
Township, Bladen County, died Fri-
day, December 28, 2001, in Bladen
County Hospital. He has been a resi-
dent in Sunbridge Nursing Home,
Elizabethtown for many years.

    The funeral service will be held at
11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Ammon
Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church
with the Rev. Steve Butler officiat-
ing. Burial will follow in the Melvin
Family Cemetery.

    He was a native of Bladen County,
the son of the late Leon Dexter Mel-
vin and the late Mae Susan Sykes
Melvin.

    He is survived by two sisters, Mrs.
Esma Melvin Fisher of Cedar Creek,
NC and Mrs. Elizabeth "Beth" Mel-
vin Miller of Richmond, Virginia.

    The family will receive friends
from 2-5 p.m. Monday at Butler Fu-
neral Home in Roseboro.

    In lieu of flowers memorials may
be made to the Bladen County Hospi-
tal Auxiliary, P. O. Box 358, Eliza-
bethtown, NC   28337.
