JANE BAXTER SMITH

SUMMERFIELD - Mrs. Jane Baxter Smith, 85, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Moses Cone Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member and taught in the children's department of the church for over 30 years.  She was also a member of Lee's Bible class and United Methodist Women. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The daughter of George Walter and Louine Baxter, Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 61 years, Starr E. Smith Sr. of the home; sons, Bradley W. Smith and his wife, Gail of Oak Ridge and S. Edward Smith Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Birmingham, Ala.; brother, Carl S. Baxter of Port Townsend, Wash.; three grandchildren Walt, Baxter and Stephanie Smith.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald M. Baxter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel on W. Friendly Avenue.

Memorials may be made to Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 314 Muir's Chapel Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27410.
