     Types of Materials (!)

There are four and sometimes five different ways material is presented on this website:

1.  An active link. Someone else owns a site different from ours and you are taken tor their site.  Indicated by: A or Active.
2.  A cache file. We have a copy in our own files in case the active link is removed by the owner.  Indicated by: C or Cache.
3.  Preserved format. A "McKay" person has re-typed material using the same line length and fonts as the original.  Indicated by: P or Preserved Format.
4.  Reformatted. The re-typed material has been re-formatted for the web page. Sometimes this involves reconnecting words broken by a hyphen at the end of a line thus making searching easier, removing extraneous material, or other small changes.  Indicated by: R or Reformatted.
5.  Image. This is basically a picture, though it may be mostly text. It cannot be queried using a "find" function.  Indicated by: I or Image.

There are reasons for this seeming complication. After a year or so of saving and re-typing various files, I realized that there were several "Types of materials", and the difference could be important for people who might want to copy the files. For example, active links have the nasty habit of disappearing when the owner changes the name, or simply removes the site. Also, images are not searchable, even though they may be images of printed text. I just wanted for everyone to be aware of the difference. I hope this added information does not confuse anyone. If it becomes annoying, I can make it less obtrusive, or eliminate it altogether.
